You don't need a dedicated room to make things. A well planned corner works fine.

Zones

  • Cutting zone: a flat surface deep enough for your machine plus a mat sliding in and out of the front and back.
  • Pressing zone: a heat safe surface away from fabrics and paper stacks, close to an outlet.
  • Weeding zone: good light and a comfortable chair. Weeding takes longer than cutting.

Storage ideas

  • Store vinyl rolls upright in a bin or on a wall rack so they don’t get crushed.
  • Keep tools in a single caddy you can move around.
  • Label drawers by material type.

Power and safety

  • Heat presses draw a lot of power. Avoid running them on the same power bar as other heating appliances.
  • Keep a clear path around anything hot.

Lighting

A bright task lamp makes weeding much easier and reduces eye strain.

TREVOR: add a photo of your own workspace and one tip you learned the hard way.
